José Arévalo is Street Law, Inc.'s Chief Financial Officer.
José is Street Law’s resident accounting and human resources expert, with more than two decades of experience crunching numbers in the nonprofit sector.
While working on his undergraduate degree in business management at George Mason University (he later earned an MBA from Strayer), José took a course in nonprofit management. That course motivated him to dedicate his career to the nonprofit sector because, he says, “The sector has a very special place in society as it provides services that neither the private sector nor the government are willing or equipped to provide.”
José is inspired by Street Law’s educational programs, especially those geared toward youth, and the staff’s commitment to these programs. He also admires people who fight for human rights and equal opportunities for all.
In his spare time, José enjoys watching old TV shows, exercising, listening to music, and reading. He is likely the only staff member who reads magazines starting at the end, instead of the beginning.
