J. Eric Thies is a Patent Counsel at Merck & Co., Inc.
Eric Thies is a Patent Counsel in the Intellectual Property Group of Merck & Co., Inc. Rahway, New Jersey, where he supports the research, development and marketing of a variety of human health products.
Eric graduated with honors from Fordham University School of Law. He received his master’s degree in Chemistry from Villanova University, and his bachelor’s degree with honors from Bowdoin College.
He has supported Street Law’s Legal Diversity Pipeline Program since its inception at Merck in 2005, and is also a founding member of the Steering Committee for Merck’s Making Positive Choices Program, which started in 2011. He served on the New Jersey State Bar Association’s “Blue Ribbon Commission on Unmet Legal Needs” and received the Equal Justice Medal for pro bono service from Legal Services of New Jersey.
