Brent Timberlake is Vice President and Chief Counsel at Capital One.
Brent Timberlake is Vice President and Chief Counsel of Capital One’s Card Litigation, Subpoena, and Intake Teams. In that role, Brent oversees a team of fifty people who manage all of Capital One’s card litigation as well legal service of process issues for the company nationwide. Since joining Capital One in 2010, Brent has managed Capital One’s Auto Litigation, Home Loans Litigation, and Intellectual Property Litigation teams. In addition, Brent has managed Capital One’s restrictive covenant portfolio, shareholder derivative portfolio, and commercial litigation portfolio. Prior to joining Capital One, Brent was an attorney with Troutman Sanders where he specialized in commercial litigation, including professional liability matters.
Brent graduated with honors from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2004, where he served as the Annual Survey Editor for the University of Richmond Law Review. He graduated from Virginia Tech with honors in 2001, where he served as Chief Justice and an Associate Justice of the Undergraduate Honor System.
Brent serves as chair of the Legal Information Network for Cancer Board of Directors, and is actively involved in a number of pro bono organizations and efforts in the Richmond area.
Brent lives with his wife, Elizabeth, and their four children in Midlothian, Virginia.
