Biography

William (Bill) Van Saders is the Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel - Corporate Taxes for Verizon.

Bill is responsible for global income, transaction and property taxes. The Verizon Tax Organization is comprised of approximately 270 tax professionals based in the United States and around the world. In his role, Bill oversees all aspects of Verizon’s global tax compliance, research and planning, tax audits, tax accounting and the financial statement reporting of Verizon’s taxes.

Bill has over 35 years of experience as a tax lawyer and CPA. Prior to joining Verizon, Bill served as Vice President – Taxes and Tax Counsel for the Pepsi Bottling Group. Bill was also a tax partner with KPMG LLP where he held a number of leadership positions.  Prior to joining KPMG, Bill served as Vice President – Federal and International Taxes for AT&T. Bill also practiced tax law with the firm Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays & Handler for a number of years in New York. Bill started his career with Arthur Andersen & Co.

Bill has a B.S. in Accounting from Villanova University, a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey Bars and admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. Bill is also a Certified Public Accountant. Bill has been recognized as one of the leading international tax M&A advisors by the International Tax Review for a number of years.
