Biography

Amy Dunathan Hammer is the Chair of the Street Law Board of Directors. She is also a Managing Associate General Counsel at Verizon Business Group.

Amy and her team provide legal support to business commercial operations and manage the business compliance program. Before taking on her current role, Amy was in the litigation group, with a focus on patent matters. Amy started at Verizon in the privacy group.

She is active in Verizon’s pro bono program, including and especially its Street Law partnership, for which she has led its Arlington, Virginia program.

Amy came to Verizon from the White House Counsel’s Office, where she served as associate counsel and special assistant to the President. Previously, Amy was with the law firm of Wiley Rein & Fielding. She began her career on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide and then as senior counsel and professional staff on the Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works and the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs. She clerked for the Hon. Ricardo M. Urbina (ret.) of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Amy graduated with honors from Brown University and the Georgetown University Law Center.
