FOREWORD
This catalogue -Teaching Law to the Public: A Catalogue of
Law School Projects- provides useful information on the many law
school-based projects operating around the United States and the
world. Public legal education programs in law schools (also known
as law-related education or Street Law) exist in over 60 law schools,
employing a wealth of program models. Street Law hopes to help
law schools strengthen and develop programs so that every law
school nationally and internationally is offering its students
this vital professional development opportunity.
This catalogue contains a master list
of law schools in the United States
participating in public legal education and a description that
includes the background, audience, and structure of each program.
For more information on international law schools participating
in Street Law, click
here.
Additionally, the U.S. programs are organized based on how the
law school model is set up. Click below for information on programs
where law students participate:
Based
on our research, at least 25% of all U.S. law schools participate
in public legal education programs. However, given the exciting
increase in these programs, Street Law probably missed a few of
them. Our ultimate goal is to catalogue all law school-based
public legal education programs. Did we miss a program that you
know about? Please click to let
us know and to complete a survey
form.
Street Law would like to express its appreciation to everyone
who completed the surveys necessary for this catalogue.
