What is Street Law?
Street Law is a non-governmental organization that provides practical,
participatory education about law, democracy, and human rights.

When did Street Law start working internationally?
Street Law began working internationally in the 1980's in South
Africa. Working in collaboration with South African lawyers and
educators, we helped design curricula and programs to educate South
African citizens about their legal, human, and democratic rights
and responsibilities.

Does Street Law have programs in my country?
Street Law has helped to establish projects in Africa, Latin America
and the Caribbean, Northern Ireland, Eastern Europe, the Newly Independent

We
can provide assistance in:
1) Curriculum
development on law, civics, human rights, democracy, conflict
resolution and youth advocacy;
2) Training of trainers in participatory teaching methods, practical
law content and strategies;
3) Program design and implementation; and,
4) Best practices and methods in civic and law-related education.

How does Street Law create programs internationally?
Street Law works with local partners to develop country-specific
educational programs and tools on practical law, democracy and human
rights. Our curricula are tailored to fit the needs, cultural and
political realities of each country partner.

What civic education materials or resources does Street Law have
and how can I get them?
Our Democracy For All (DFA) and Human Rights For All
(HRFA) texts provide basic instructions in the principles of democracy
and human rights. We offer a variety of publications obtainable

Can Street Law provide funding to my organization?
Unfortunately, Street Law is not a funding organization. We are
an NGO and must also seek funding for our own programs and activities.
9.
Where does Street Law get funding for its international programs?
Street Law gets its funding from various private, government, and
corporate donor agencies. Our projects have been supported by: the
U.S. State Department, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs,
the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Ford Foundation,
the National Endowment for Democracy, the Soros Foundation and the
U.S. Department of Education.
