STREET LAW PROGRAM COMPONENTS:

  • SECONDARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
    This program has support from the Ministry of Education, teachers and the legal community for writing textbooks for the 1st through 10th grades (15 textbooks in all). 9 books have been completed, are being field-tested, and will be published and disseminated in Fall 2001. These are: a teacher's manual for primary grades I-IV; student book for I grade; student book for II grade; student book for III grade; student book for IV grade; teacher's manual for V grade; student book for V grade; teacher's manual for VIII grade; student book for VIII grade; The other books for VI, VII, IX-X grades will be completed by Fall 2002.

  • TEACHER TRAINING
    This program uses national trainers (9) and regional trainers (30) to train teachers and school administrators throughout the country. Teachers (524) and school administrators (30) have been trained to date. "Street Law" teams composed of legal professionals have been developed in each district of Mongolia to support teachers.

  • RADIO DRAMA PROJECT
    The Street Law Radio Drama Project is a series of engaging radio programs and spots focusing on practical law that will be developed by local radio studio with international technical assistance. The outmost goal of the project is to apply positive attitudes toward police, law and legal procedures that would enable young people to prevent crime and empower the public towards implementing development and social change in their communities.
    The project will consist of several workshops, consultancies, round-tables and debates among the high school students, and broadcasting. The team of radio producers will be selected from the participants of the first workshop for radio producers, based on their assignment performances.

  • LAW SCHOOL CLINIC
    A law school clinic program is in the developmental stage. Law professors (20) will be working with the clinics.

  • STREET LAW/POLICE IN THE SCHOOLS
    Police officers have been trained to begin working in the schools in the Fall 2001.
