STREET LAW PROJECT COMPONENTS:
- SECONDARY PROGRAM
Law Students (20) from ELTE University Law School Street Law
Clinic are working in ten Budapest schools to draft a Street
Law-type curriculum. Plans are underway to publish in the winter
of 2001-2002.
- TEACHER TRAINING
University teachers (2), secondary teachers (4), and a lawyer
have been trained as teacher trainers. These trainers have trained
secondary teachers (25) to teach the curriculum. The Ministry
of Education is considering certifying the training within the
regional educational centers.
- LAW SCHOOL CLINIC
Forty ELTE University Law students have been trained at the
Law School Street Law Clinic. This clinic program has become
a model for law schools in other countries in the CEE/NIS region.
Trainings (5) have been held for the Albanian Internship Training
Program of Tirana University, the Slovakian Internship Training
Program of Comenius University, University of Banska Bistrica,
University of Trnava, and University of Kosice, and the Croatian
Street Law Program.
- STREET LAW IN COMMUNITY SETTINGS
Two lawyers, one policeman, one education administrator, a Juvenile
Detention Center teacher, and an assistant professor have been
trained for teaching Street Law in community settings.
