Save Our Streets

Grades 8-12

The Save Our Streets curriculum is composed of lesson plans for young people charged with weapons offenses. It develops and strengthens communication and conflict resolution skills and teaches young people about the law and public policies related to their crimes. It can be used in after-school programs, alternative education programs, and juvenile justice programs and settings. 

This 15-lesson curriculum uses highly interactive strategies to teach participants to:

  • Understand the juvenile justice system
  • Analyze public policy issues concerning weapons
  • Demonstrate improved communication skills
  • Resolve conflict verbally
  • Make positive choices in response to conflict
  • Solve problems in a socially acceptable manner
  • Evaluate safety needs of the community with respect to weapons
