Open Society Institute/Street Law Network Program

A grant from the Open Society Institute, part of the Soros Foundation network, funded the development of the Open Society Institute/Street Law Network Program. The goal of the program was to develop practical law texts for secondary schools and to train educators in interactive teaching methods in Eastern and Central Europe, Central Asia, and Mongolia.

Under this grant Street Law accomplished the following:

provided training, technical assistance, and curriculum development in 19 countries
developed and published textbooks for secondary schools 15 countries
added practical law to the required course list in secondary schools in 5 countries
created clinical programs at law schools in 12 countries
established programs placing police in secondary school classrooms to teach practical law lessons in 3 countries
