by
June 25, 2009 | Rockville, MD
Street Law, Inc. recently partnered with the Montgomery County (MD) Bar Foundation to conduct a professional development institute for 25 of the county’s high school law teachers.
The training emphasized the use of law-related education best practices; resource people—especially Montgomery County attorneys; interactive teaching strategies such as case studies, deliberations, and mock hearings; and new media and online resources.
Teachers also learned specifically how to teach and engage students in the study of the following:
The training also coincided with the launch of new law I and law II curriculum available from the Montgomery County Public Schools. The course outlines can be viewed below. Anyone interested in obtaining the entire curriculum ($25.00), can call: Ann Bedford at 301-279-3489 in MCPS’s Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs.

This institute was made possible with funding and support provided by the U.S. Department of Education and their Teaching American History grant # U215X060034 to Montgomery County Public Schools.
Special thanks to the Curriculum Office of Montgomery County Public Schools, the Montgomery County Bar Foundation, and Glencoe/McGraw-Hill for their roles in making this training a success.
