March 10, 2009 | Silver Spring, MD
The eighth edition of Street Law, Inc.’s flagship text, Street Law: A Course in Practical Law is now available. For the first time, Street Law will have a separate chapter on immigration law and policy, and new content has been added addressing the most current law-related public issues: terrorism, technology, and recent Supreme Court decisions. Through the use of case studies, cooperative learning activities, data analysis, political cartoons, and mock trials and moot courts, students learn to analyze, evaluate, and resolve disputes.
"Street Law is not your typical textbook," said Lee Arbetman, Street Law’s acting executive director and co-author of the text. "It's designed to engage students through real world examples, promote civic participation, and develop life skills, critical thinking and decision-making. Students today are faced with a law-saturated society. This helps them better understand the impact legal and civic issues have on their lives—whether or not they pursue a legal career."
Other new and improved features include the following:
The text also incorporates the popular elements of earlier editions and is rich with case studies, role-plays, small group exercises, and visual analysis activities.
Street Law and Glencoe/McGraw-Hill also developed/updated several new ancillary materials to support this edition:
