Background

The Tashkent Public Education Center was an extremely active non-governmental organization (NGO) that worked to improve civic education in Uzbekistan through teacher training and curricula development. The Center prepared materials and trained teachers all over the county in cooperation with other NGOs and the Ministry of Education. The group also developed a secondary text on constitutional law and a seventh grade civics text as part of the Open Society Institute/Street Law Network Program.
