Street Law / Countries / Poland / Poland
Status: Active
The Polish Association for Legal Education works to promote civil society by providing legal and human rights education. In the 1990s, the association began working with the South African Street Law program and the Georgetown University Law Center Street Law Clinic.
In 1997, it joined Street Law in Central Europe and Russia: Building a Network and in 1998, the Open Society Institute/Street Law Network programs. Under these programs the Association strengthened the growing law school-based Street Law program and produced a secondary practical law textbook. Ms. Platek is a leader in establishing law school clinics all over Eastern Europe as well as in other Polish universities.
Presently, the Association works with five other educational organizations to run law school-based Street Law programs where law students teach in secondary schools and prisons.
