Status: Active
The Regional Center for Civic Education in Lithuania was established with support from the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and works to foster the development of an open, democratic civil society in the Baltic region.
From 2002–2003, the Regional Center for Civic Education participated in Street Law’s Democracy Education Exchange Project (DEEP) and developed and published The Educational National Standards on Constitution. Furthermore, a teacher’s manual and student workbook were translated and adopted, and a library of publications related to civic education was established.
The Lithuania Street Law project has been active in the law school-based program for several years and developed a practical law book.
The Center also participates in the Deliberating in a Democracy program and coordinates the participation of five schools in Lithuania. Visit the Lithuania section of the Deliberating in a Democracy web site to learn more.
