Urmika Devi practices in the areas of intellectual property and immigration law. In the IP area, Ms. Devi focuses on trial and appellate litigation, software, technology and outsourcing transactions, contract interpretation, and copyright protection. In the immigration area, Ms. Devi works with companies to procure employment visas and individuals on general immigration matters, including appellate review of agency actions.
Ms. Devi has an extensive background in the performing arts as a producer, choreographer, and dancer. She has produced a benefit performance raising over $10,000 dollars for a university endowment, produced a sold-out weekend run of a contemporary dance concert, set choreography on professional dancers, performed at national festivals and was selected to attend an international dance-choreography residency. Ms. Devi co-organized a national theater conference funded by the Ford Foundation, and has worked with several nonprofit dance companies and a touring college theater company. Her experience includes negotiating and drafting agreements, marketing and development, assessing tax implications of donor contributions and ticketing and box office management.
Ms. Devi is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania. She is a 2010 graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she was a member of the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review and was awarded the Raynes McCarty Award for her copyright research on music licensing in dance. Ms. Devi is a cum laude graduate of George Washington University, where she graduated in three years (B.A. International Affairs, B.A. Economics, Minor in Dance).
