Ms. Hackett is a leading authority on in-house practice, value-based and collaborative inside/outside counsel relationships, and strategies for creating more client-focused legal service delivery models.

She created Legal Executive Leadership, LLC in 2011 to offer consulting and project-based services to law firms, law departments and other legal industry professionals: our goal is to help smart legal leaders practice smarter - and be rewarded for doing so!

Ms. Hackett held a previous position at the Association of Corporate Counsel (from 1989 - 2011) where she offered unparalleled experience in developing and executing ACC's collaborative and leadership networks for CLO and law department executives, educational programs (both MCLE/CLE and skills-based sessions), ethics and compliance initiatives for corporate legal functions, in-house resource and knowledge libraries, and ACC's most visible communications/publications (including the ACC Docket and

She is the creator and staff leader of the ACC Value Challenge (an initiative designed to help re-engineer the inside/outside counsel relationship, improve in-house management of the legal spend, drive improved client outcomes, and re-align the cost of legal services with the value of the services provided).

Ms. Hackett served as the "voice" of in-house counsel for ACC's 28,000 individual corporate counsel members who work in more than 10,000 private sector businesses and non-profits in over 80 countries. She delivered testimony, filed comment letters and briefs, and represented in-house interests before appellate courts, the government, and legal regulatory authorities.

Ms. Hackett is a 1983 graduate (dual B.A. in political philosophy and international relations) of James Madison College at Michigan State University, and a 1986 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as President of Phi Delta Phi, the international honorary legal fraternity. She is licensed in both Maryland and the District of Columbia.

She is married to Richard Hagerty, a commercial litigator and partner at Troutman Sanders’ Tysons Corner, Virginia office, and is the proud mother of two daughters, Claire and Maeve.
