Vulnerable and At-Risk Youth

Practical legal education is especially valuable to young parents, youth in the juvenile justice system, youth aging out of foster care, and other vulnerable populations.  Street Law specializes in programs and curricula that educate at-risk youth about their rights and responsibilities under the law.

Civic & Law-Related Education

Law-related education (LRE) is a blend of legal content and interactive teaching strategies.  LRE teaches non-lawyers and students about the law, legal principles, rights and responsibilities, and empowers them to be effective citizens.  Street Law’s civics and LRE programs offer curriculum designed around these principles, training in these methods, and program design to develop educated, active citizens—both in the U.S. and abroad.

Human Rights and Democracy Education

At the foundation of democracy/civic education are human rights.  Using the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a guide, Street Law works to inject human rights principles into our programs and curricula that educate youth and adults around the world.

Diversity in the Legal Profession

Street Law operates a set of legal diversity pipeline programs—all designed to increase diversity in the legal profession. These programs target high school students of color and work to increase their interest in the law, their knowledge about legal careers and legal career pathways, and encourage them to pursue legal careers.

Supreme Court of the United States

Street Law’s Supreme Court programs train classroom teachers to improve their teaching about the Supreme Court of the United States. Through interactive lessons, reflective training, valuable experts, and content-based instruction, the Institutes and Seminars help teachers strengthen their knowledge of the Supreme Court and equip them to use interactive lessons and methods in their classroom.

Youth Leadership and Advocacy

Street Law strives not only to educate young people about the law, but to empower them to take an active role in the civic affairs of their schools, communities, and countries.  Our youth advocacy programs teach young people how to identify problems and make positive change in their lives and the lives of others.
