Youth Act!™ Student Text
First edition, 2003
Appropriate for grades 6-12
The Youth Act!™ curriculum helps young people develop the leadership and vision necessary to advocate for meaningful change in their communities. Typically delivered through community youth program or infused into social studies civics and health classes, the Youth Act!® program harnesses diverse learning styles and abilities laying the foundation for young citizens to make a difference throughout their lives.
The Youth Act!™ student text teaches participants the skills necessary to identify and learn about a problem, take action, and ultimately change public policy. The text guides participants step-by-step through the advocacy and helps them to:
- Select a public policy problem to address;
- Become an expert on the issue via research;
- Form coalitions to support the issue;
- Create an advocacy action plan;
- Utilize advocacy super strategies to solve community problems; and
- Work collaboratively with other youth and adults to leverage support for the issue at hand.
Also available is the Youth Act!™ Kit that includes 5 Youth Act!™ student texts and a Youth Act!™ Adult Leader Guide.
