Founded in 1996, SIEDO (Independent Society for Education and Human Rights) promotes the principles stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and supports democratic reforms through education. SIEDO joined the Open Society Institute/Street Law Network Program in 1998, and produced some of the initiative’s most successful student and teacher texts that were approved by the Ministry of Education for all Moldova schools and are still in use today.

The Center for Information and Documentation in Child's Rights collaborated with SIEDO to participate in the Democracy Education Exchange Project (DEEP). Together the organizations initiated a Youth Act!® program throughout Moldova. Later they trained NGO leaders in other countries in Youth Act!®.
