This professional development opportunity for Atlanta area social studies teachers is modeled on the highly successful Supreme Court Summer Institute for Teachers and designed to expand and strengthen instruction about the history, operation, and cases of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Lee Arbetman, co-author of the Street Law textbook, will direct the seminar, which also features attorneys who have been involved in key cases before the Court.
Sessions include the following:
- the cert process
- a moot court
- case studies
- highlights of the term
- lunch with a former Supreme Court clerk
- competing judicial philosophies
Reimbursement for substitutes is available for teachers accepted into the program.
Street Law and NCSS have collaborated to offer participants a reduced rate to the NCSS annual meeting on the days following the seminar (Nov. 13-15, 2009).
