Street Law partners with PBS on documentary about the Supreme Court

Street Law is pleased to partner with PBS on its innovative new series, The Supreme Court.  Produced by New York City PBS affiliate WNET, the four-part documentary traces the history of the Court –- from its creation, through the Rehnquist years –- with particular emphasis on major cases and personal stories about the justices who have shaped our notions of justice and law.

Street Law’s part in this exciting project was to create lesson plans for teachers to use with each of the four one-hour shows.  The lessons center on major themes such as the importance of precedent, the balance of power under federalism, the evolution of the Fourteenth Amendment, and how the Court has balanced competing interests in the quest for “liberty and justice for all.”  We also continue to partner with WNET to offer teacher training in these materials.

Visit the show’s web site to find out about times your local PBS station will air the series, and to see the related discussion guide, interactive games, and primary source materials.
