STREET LAW PROJECT COMPONENTS:
- SECONDARY PROGRAM
Copies of the text Law for Everyday (400) and the teacher's
manual have been distributed in draft form to all teachers attending
seminars. The project plans to have copies (2,000) published
by September 2001.
- TEACHER TRAINING
The Ministry of Education requested teacher training (18) last
year in which a significant number of teachers (500) have been
trained. Additional workshops are being funded for the Winter
of 2001. A "Citizenship Course" based on civic education
and Street Law is being developed for pedagogical students in
universities (10).
- LAW SCHOOL CLINIC
Clinics are being developed in three law schools -- Charles,
Pilsen and Brno. One hundred law students have been trained
to teach the curriculum, and a cadre of lawyers (10) have been
trained as resource people.
- STREET LAW/POLICE IN THE SCHOOLS
Working with the Ministry of Interior, a police-teacher partnering
program has been developed. Police officers (80 +) have been
