Street Law, Inc.'s first and largest international program began in South Africa, where the South African Street Law Program is active today at over 18 universities throughout the country. The program trains law students to teach in area schools and community settings. Participants conduct a national mock trial competition; an annual youth parliament project; a national magazine for youth; and radio and television shows devoted to practical legal education. The Democracy for All Programme was established to promote the democratic values of the new South Africa using participatory teaching strategies so successful for Street Law, Inc.

Street Law, Inc. helped establish public legal education programs under a Ford Foundation grant for three countries in East Africa -- Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. It is currently working with these local partners to expand these efforts.
