Diversity in the Legal Profession

Street Law operates a set of legal diversity pipeline programs—all designed to increase diversity in the legal profession. These programs target high school students of color and work to increase their interest in the law, their knowledge about legal careers and legal career pathways, and encourage them to pursue legal careers.

Recruiting Teenagers: Program Lures Future Talent

November 21, 2008 The early bird catches the worm — and the best employees. At least that’s the thinking of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Street Law organization, which are working together to encourage young people of color to extend their educations and consider law-related careers. Improving Diversity Through Pipeline Programs

July 8, 2008 Reaching young people before they graduate from high school, and teaching them early on about college may be the best way to improve the pipeline because waiting until law school may be too late. Read more

NALP Launches Diversity Pipeline Initiative

July 1, 2008 During the 2008-2009 academic year, five NALP member law firms will be paired with local high schools to teach diverse and disadvantaged students about substantive areas of the law and about the legal profession and legal career pathways. Read more

Marriott Gives Back

April 1, 2008 The legal teams at Marriott International, Inc., and its subsidiary, Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI), will be formally recognized this month for their contributions to the community. At its annual awards dinner, Street Law, Inc., will honor both legal teams for their continuing work with the Corporate Legal Diversity Pipeline Program. Read more
