Street Law, Inc. is now accepting online applications for the 2010 National Supreme Court Institute for Teachers, to be held June 17-22, 2010. Thirty of the country's top social studies educators will be selected to attend the six-day Institute in Washington, DC.
Co-sponsored by the Supreme Court Historical Society, the Institute is designed to expand and strengthen instruction about the history, operation, and cases of the Supreme Court of the United States. Over 700 teachers have attended the Institute since its inception in 1995.
Accepted participants will have the opportunity to learn about the cert process, media coverage of the court, specific cases, and judicial philosophies from Supreme Court experts, journalists, authors, and attorneys. Teachers become attorneys and justices for a day by participating in a moot court. Valuable online resources and effective teaching methods are presented alongside content-rich materials, and the week culminates with a visit to the Court to hear decisions handed down and a private reception at the Court.
The application deadline is March 15, 2010.
Special thanks to the Supreme Court Historical Society — co-sponsor of Street Law, Inc.'s Supreme Court Institutes and Seminars.
